DIGITAL STORYTELLING!

HELLO EVERYONE!

My post is about digital storytelling, the process, and its use in language classes.

What Is Digital Storytelling?

Digital storytelling is a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their stories (Wikipedia, 2020).

The Task

For our assignment, we were asked to create a digital story in pairs. My friend Betül and I chose "How to project" After brainstorming, we decided on the Konmari method!

We drafted our script and created a storyboard with visuals  Here is an example!

To get the perfect result, I recorded my narration several times using my phone's voice recorder. Afterward, we used Canva to design our video.

Canva is a convenient tool because,
  • If you struggle to design, you can use various templates to inspire!
  • It has free visuals and soundtracks.
But
  • The free videos are limited so finding a perfect match for narration can be hard.
  • Also, video resolution can decrease while downloading.

Later we sequenced the video and the narration using iMovie. For it to be entertaining, adding a soundtrack and audio is crucial!

Here is our digital story!

How Can it Be Used in a Language Classroom?

Digital storytelling improves student's various skills. They learn how to search for information and practice their writing skills to create a script. Speaking skills are emphasized the most while narrating. Lastly, learners use technological tools to produce a cooperative product.

What other purposes can we use digital storytelling?

See you in my next post!

Comments

  1. Digital storytelling has become one of the most engaging ways to share ideas, experiences, and information in today’s digital world. By combining visuals, audio, and narrative techniques, it allows creators to connect with audiences on a deeper emotional level. Whether it’s used in education, marketing, or social media, digital storytelling helps transform complex information into compelling and easy-to-understand stories. In academic settings, it is also helping students present research and assignments in more creative formats. Many students collaborate with professional assignment writers to better structure their narratives, organize their ideas, and ensure their work communicates a clear message. Overall, digital storytelling is a powerful tool that not only improves communication but also encourages creativity and critical thinking.
