My post is about digital storytelling, the process, and its use in language classes.


What Is Digital Storytelling?

Digital storytelling is a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their stories (Wikipedia, 2020).


The Task

For our assignment, we were asked to create a digital story in pairs. My friend Betül and I chose "How to project" After brainstorming, we decided on the Konmari method! 

We drafted our script and created a storyboard with visuals  Here is an example!

To get the perfect result, I recorded my narration several times using my phone's voice recorder. Afterward, we used Canva to design our video.


Canva is a convenient tool because, 
  • If you struggle to design, you can use various templates to inspire! 
  • It has free visuals and soundtracks. 
But
  • The free videos are limited so finding a perfect match for narration can be hard.
  • Also, video resolution can decrease while downloading.



Later we sequenced the video and the narration using iMovie. For it to be entertaining, adding a soundtrack and audio is crucial!

How Can it Be Used in a Language Classroom?

Digital storytelling improves student's various skills. They learn how to search for information and practice their writing skills to create a script. Speaking skills are emphasized the most while narrating. Lastly, learners use technological tools to produce a cooperative product.

A NEW APPROACH TO TEACHING! - Vocabulary

HELLO EVERYONE! My post is about flipped vocabulary teaching , the advantages and the disadvantages of it, and the process of making video materials. The Task The next assignment was to create flipped vocabulary teaching videos. My friend and Eda were paired to work on the task. Visuals and voice recordings were requested to present the vocabulary. HELLO EVERYONE! My post is about posters , the design process, and their use as an educational tool. What Is a Poster? A poster is a  large   printed   picture  or  notice  put up  for advertising or  decoration.    (Cambridge Dictionary, 2020). The Task Our assignment for this week was to design a poster. The options were  creating a movie poster based on a book, and  designing a magazine cover.  I used the tool  Postermywall for my magazine cover which  has various templates for posters, banners, etc. First of all, I decided on my topic as minimalism and  included four different points on the cover using an appropriate font.
