ENHANCING THE REALITY!

HELLO EVERYONE!

My post is about integrating augmented reality in education, the task, process of designing activity, the technological tools, and the challenges of using augmented reality.

What is Augmented Reality?

Augmented reality is a method of perceiving digital items and videos in a three-dimensional environment and interacting with them in the real world. It is a way of enhancing reality.

The Task

Our task for this week was to make Augmented Reality Integrated Teaching Material for high school prep class students.

From the two options presented, we selected to develop an activity about exploring a city abroad. For this task, we were asked to choose a city abroad and introduce 2 or 3 landmarks, a museum, local food with 3D objects or 360 videos, and homework for students regarding their experience in the city.

We chose the magnificent city of Rome to introduce in our handouts. We used visuals from various sources to offer attractions such as The Pantheon, The Colosseum, Fontana Di Trevi, and The Carlucci Gallery as QR codes.

We used 360 videos from YouTube for the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Simply type in the city you want to visit and add 360 videos nearby to find 360 tour guides.

We used the 360 Visio website for the Carlucci Gallery. The major reason why we chose this website is the visual quality. It is so high that you can see every detail.

For creating QR codes we used QR Code Generator. All you have to do is entering the website or dropping a file. the website will automatically create a QR code for you to download.

We used the Fectar app for Fontana Di Trevi and pizza. It's an app that provides augmented reality and virtual reality experiences.

After introducing the tourist attractions, we asked a couple of questions based on what they viewed in our handouts. If the video has commentary we asked factual questions as well as personal questions.

Finally, for homework, we asked our students to make a 5-minute podcast to review what they had learned. They'll discuss their impressions of the city, the attractions, their feelings, and suggestions for other travelers. They will also be practicing their speaking skills in this manner.

Challenges

Creating an augmented reality integrated task was my first experience so I had difficulties with it.

Finding an appropriate AR app was the most difficult part of this task. The apps we tried were either unavailable or inoperable. Finally, we used Fectar thanks to suggestions. Finding appropriate objects was also a challenge. We had to select a city based on the application's objects. We were also limited by the app because it didn't provide various selections. Getting QR codes to work in Fectar was another problem. Eda figured out how to get the item after a long struggle, and I got the QR codes in the app's website version.

Here is our Handout!

This task was as challenging as it was instructive. AR assists students to be more engaged and motivated in a class by allowing them to see content in more depth. I recommend everyone who is a teacher in this world where technology is at the center to use this course.

See you in my next post!
